The Hobbit chair is Shea's new favorite, he finds the back splat a wonderful canvas for carving or marquetry, as well as the overall actual weight of the chair much less than the average stick chair. The chair pictured with carving is in Red Elm and the second is Chris Schwarz's chair in mahogany.
Our Stick Chair kits are processed using kiln-dried lumber selected specifically for chairs, taking care to ensure straight grain on critical parts. This kit has a 3-piece seat already glued up.
This kit is based on the plans of Christopher Schwarz and follows his cut lists in the Stick Chair Journal No2. All parts are Bandsawn.
The Hobbit chair can be built with or without lower stretchers. This kit includes lower stretchers.
